TIPS ON GETTING ELECTED
If you want to change the world and are looking for a career change, this is something to keep in mind. Remember, you get paid to be in office. PLUS you usually get all kinds of perks which are very, very useful for making positive change, like a nice office, paid staff, mailing & office supplies & phonecalls paid for. The world needs lots of positive, well-informed people like you to network with each other and really change the way things are now.
Here are some suggestions to help you get elected:
01. Go to Amazon.com, search “get elected”. Start buying and reading those books. They are a crash course in getting elected
Check for these books used on eBay and Abebooks.com.
02. As in any marketing campaign you must have a “specific benefit” Be specific on what you will accomplish. Note that almost no one else bothers to do this.
03. You generally need signatures before your name goes on the ballot. 1,250 signatures costs $1250 (professional signature collectors get $1 each). Ask Ron Paul supporters to get these signatures for free, via the internet.
04. For funding, buy an EPSON RS 1800 printer and print your own bumper stickers. II X 17 sheet of self adhesive vinyl costs $1.50. That makes 4 large bumper stickers that sell for $2 each - $6.50 profit. Cut them yourself.
05. Sell T-Shirts. Wholesale cost on the net is about $4 each. Sell for $8 and they become walking billboards. They need to have a catchy slogan like “Vote for me because everyone else sucks – (your name) – Congress” (The generic Vote for me shirt appears frequently at flea markets during election. There is no reason you could not borrow the slogan. People will remember it!)
06. Go to TemplateMonster and buy one of the templates for a political website.
They have some nice ones for $50 or so. It will need to integrated into a website to be useful OR -
07. Go to TemplateMonster and buy a Political Blog Template such as #13103, #12008 or #11105. Get A Hosting Company that uses CPanel.
CPanel has a built in installer for the Blog Software called WORDPRESS. Wordpress is free. Takes about 30 seconds to install it. You can then upload that Political Blog theme, activate it and you are in business. About 20 minutes total. That way you can avoid the delays associated with websites.
08. For a fancier website that has room for a lot of content, ads, membership, etc checkout the free Joomla.com

09. Get your domain from GoDaddy.com. Try Congressman(your last name).com or (your last name) 2008.com. Don't bother with anything other than a dot com (eg dot net) as others are perceived as less important.
10. Go to eBay and get 5000 full color post cards (4 X 6 ) for $90. Use these as your “sales flyers”
11. Get an AUTORESPONDER. Collecting the email address of everyone that even looks at your website is a must. An autoresponder can be rented but the best is to buy one (you own the software) so that you can mail as much and as often as you wish. The autoresponder software installs on your server (get a different unrelated domain to install it on). It will create a small bit of code that you put on you website and it creates a "subscribe/unsubscribe" button for your supporters to subscribe to your newsletter (you are planning to have a newsletter, right?). The best one we know of is SendStudio NX. Remember that it takes multiple contacts to sell a product. So you need to keep in contact with your supporters and build a RELATIONSHIP.
